Journals

The Executive Committee endorsed five journals at its Eleventh Meeting (Hong Kong, 29 November 2012):

The Journal of Asian Public Policy was launched in 2008. This exciting new journal focuses on one of the most vibrant regions of the contemporary world. Both China and India are now recognized to be critical players in the global economy, with economic profiles that grow on an annual basis. East Asian economies that started to develop somewhat earlier, following the Japanese lead, remain among the most important economies in the world. The emergent regions of South and Southeast Asia have many dynamic economic sectors. Public policy, governance and development issues are drawing increasing attention not only from academia but also from the wider business, professional and policy communities.

Development and policy issues will be defined broadly. Comparative analysis and current policy debates will be particularly stressed. Asia will also be defined broadly to encompass an area bounded by Mongolia in the north, Indonesia in the south, Korea in the east, and Afghanistan in the west. Articles that do not have an explicit Asian focus will be considered only if they have clear relevance to an Asian readership.

Asian Journal of Peacebuilding (AJP) is a new peer-review journal publishing the original research on the topics of violence, conflict, and peacebuilding around the world. The aims of AJP are twofold: First, it intends to promote innovative research on issues related to peacebuilding in Asia, a region where national divisions, transitions, and developments are intertwined with new forms of threat, violence, and destruction. Second, it aims at disseminating peace studies conducted both in traditional disciplines of social sciences and the humanities and in interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of religion, culture, ecology, and gender studies. AJP welcomes papers written by scholars around the world, both within and outside the Asian region. Exemplary topics on which AJP focuses are, but not limited to: reconciliation in divided societies (or nations); migrants and refugees; WMD developments; development and ecological destruction; historical and territorial disputes; peacemaking or mediation in intrastate conflicts; violence and transitional justice; anti-nuclear weapons (or anti-nuclear plants) movements; women in wars; democratic transition and human rights; post-conflict institutionalization; humanitarian assistance and protection.
